306: The Year That Was and the Yet to Come

The Year That Was and the Yet to Come

As we wrap up another year, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on the year that was 2024 and set our intentions for the exciting year ahead. In today’s episode, we celebrated our accomplishments, learned from the challenges, and renewed our commitments.

As the year draws to a close, it’s essential to look back and acknowledge the milestones we’ve achieved. It doesn’t matter whether the goals were big or small. Recognize the progress, the strides made, and the lessons you’ve learned along the way.

For me, some aspirations like my book deal are still in the pipeline. While I didn’t hit every target this year, I’m grateful for the progress made. More writing got done this year than in many previous years, and meaningful partnerships were forged, allowing my business to thrive and impact more lives. Reflecting on these victories motivates us to keep reaching for new heights, knowing that past successes can fuel future triumphs.

Goal Setting: Crafting the Blueprint for 2025

As we transition into the new year, setting goals remains a vital part of personal and relational growth. Despite the cynicism that New Year’s resolutions often face, they provide a roadmap for improvement and growth. It’s about striving for better relationships, healthier habits, and a more fulfilling life.

Not every goal may have been met in 2024, but that doesn’t mean starting from scratch. Instead, it’s about assessing what worked, and what didn’t, and building upon that foundation. Perhaps you aimed for a specific number of date nights but didn’t quite get there. Adjust the goal, allow grace, and strive for consistency in 2025.

Shared Marriage Goals : A Lesson from the Year that Was

In a marriage, individual pursuits should align with shared marriage goals to deepen unity and partnership. I often emphasize the significance of creating a shared marriage vision, a principle that has profoundly impacted my marriage and those I’ve worked with.

Having a shared vision ensures that both partners are moving in the same direction, supporting each other, and working toward common goals. This journey isn’t just about ticking boxes but creating a legacy together. Whether it’s about attending school, pursuing career advancements, or simply spending quality time together, shared goals can anchor your relationship and deepen your connection.

Renewing Commitment: Embracing Intentionality

Every new year offers an opportunity to renew commitments, not just to our goals but to our spouses. Renew your marriage vows mentally and emotionally, viewing your partner with fresh eyes and renewed love.

Intentionality is the key to maintaining healthy, vibrant relationships. It’s in the small, everyday choices – expressing gratitude for the little things, prioritizing quality time, and actively listening. These actions can transform a marriage from mundane to extraordinary, reinforcing that marriages require ongoing effort and attention.

Keep the Faith and Have a Hopeful Outlook

It indeed was the year that was. As the year turns, maintaining hope and faith is critical. It’s easy to look at unmet goals or ongoing challenges and feel disheartened. However, focusing on the future with optimism and faith can be transformative.

I remind myself daily of Ephesians 3:20, which speaks to the boundless possibilities available through faith. For those of us who believe, knowing that a higher power is at work within us can fuel us to pursue dreams unrelentingly, knowing that nothing is impossible.

Let’s celebrate what the past twelve months have taught us and achieved. Let’s renew our commitments, not just to our goals but to the ones we love, crafting a path filled with intention, connection, and vision.

2025 holds unknown adventures, growth, and experiences. While we cannot predict every twist and turn, we can approach each moment with a heart full of purpose, knowing that we are never alone on this journey.

Whether you’re striving for personal growth, relational achievements, or both, remember – the best is yet to come. Let’s step into the new year with anticipation for what God can do and a commitment to doing our part in the transformation.
